the melting pot and a parking lot

Charlottesville is such a pretty and fun place! It has so many little cool bookstores, coffeeshops and an Urban WOOWOO. I went to the melting pot in the middle of Charlottesville yesterday with a group of awesome people, and it was so much fun! It was everything that everyone cracks it up to be. If you ever win a contest and get a huge discount on a party there, like we did ... you need jump on that opportunityand go. And don't wear flip flops. I was judged by the busboys and the guys in charge of taking our coats... because yes, they asked for my coat! weird. Here are some pictures of our day:

its important that you know that the picture with the guy at the booth is from the movie/documentary THE PARKING LOT. It was recently suggested by some friends, and it is imperative that you watch it as soon as you get the chance.

I hope that you are having the GREATEST day today!

even when things are insane.....

This is my prayer in the desert
When all that's within me feels dry
This is my prayer in my hunger and need
My God is the God who provides
This is my prayer in the fire
In weakness or trial or pain
There is a faith proved
Of more worth than gold
So refine me Lord through the flame
I will bring praise
I will bring praise
No weapon formed against me shall remain
I will rejoice
I will declare
God is my victory and He is here
This is my prayer in the battle
When triumph is still on it's way
I am a conqueror and co-heir with Christ
So firm on His promise I'll stand
I will bring praise
I will bring praise
No weapon formed against me shall remain
I will rejoice
I will declare
God is my victory and He is here
All of my life
In every season
You are still God
I have a reason to sing
I have a reason to worship
I will bring praise
I will bring praise
No weapon formed against me shall remain
I will rejoice
I will declare
God is my victory and He is here
This is my prayer in the harvest
When favour and providence flow
I know I'm filled to be emptied again
The seed I've received I will sow

.... I am thankful.

phat (pretty hot and tempting.)

c

I decided to take up wreath-making this week. I think it was a pretty successful endeavor. I was inspired by Sherry Turley. All that you need is a shrinkwrapped straw wreath which is only about 2-5$.. (or if you're lucky you'll find one at a thriftstore like I did !!) scraps of leftover material, buttons, and HOT GLUE. the hottest of all glues.

WHILEST wreathing, I uploaded ,my itunes libe. Here are some things that, in my opinion, are a great idea for you and everyone else to download ASAP:
blue valentine soundtrack (i always think it is a better choice to have listened to the soundtrack prior to watching the movie.)
freelance whales
the new guster cd: easy wonderful.
group love : "don't say oh well"
laura marling: "new romantic"
lcd soundsystem- london sessions.
the morning benders
mosquito feet- come thou fount
said the whale

and always all thing leeland, eisley, and kate nash

sketchers

Today, I fell in love.
I know that there is a great chance some are going to judge me for what I am about to say. But thats a risk that I am going to have to take. The last class of my day today is the first math class that I have taken in three and half years. It was ridiculously hard for me to even FIND the class... its like Liberty and I are equally against me taking this class. It was in a huge cubicle-y class room in the very back of the last room in the computer lab (in the underground railroad.) and it took me 15 minutes to find it. I was one of the last people to walk into the cubicled class room and find a seat. We were all just like hanging out and talking until our professor walked in. He was pretty young. He introduced himself... in an authentic Australian accent. I have NEVER been one of those kids to have a crush on one of my teachers... for a few reasons.. some of them being:
I had way more female teachers than male teachers,
not including my 50 year old 5th grade teacher at Faith Academy Mr.Kuiken.
And I watched an episode of Law and Order about a teacher-student scandal when I was younger and EWWW.

So, this was very unusual for me. When he started talking, all of the girls around the cubicle looked at each other like- "OMG.... is this really happening right now?" He continued going over the syllabus and then on to his life story. He grew up in a Christian home- check. He moved around a bunch when he was younger- check. His family lived in the Philippines as missionaries for a little while- SERIOUSLY??! check! and then he moved to Liberty after grad school and met his cross country trainer wife- dream squandered, but good for him (I guess.)
Then he stepped out from the podium and BAM- he was wearing those shoelaceless man sandal sketchers. Shoes tell so much about a person... and those stretchy sketchers ruined a perfectly fine australian accent.

i love lamp

My project last week was this lamp that I found on the sidewalk.I saw it and almost peed. It's perfect! It was shadeless and calling to me. The next part of this project can only be explained by prefacing to you that trash day after New Years is famous in Aston PA for being the big treasure trash day where many Astoners including the Trinkle sisters go driving through neighborhoods looking for furniture and anything salvageable... I found a the perfect lamp shade to go along with my classy grandma lamp. The material was moldy and pretty nast. I decided to rip it off and cover the shade with a dress that I bought a few years ago that I would be lying to myself if I thought I might wear it again one day. The result was really cute, and 100% free... there is absolutely no shame in trash picking. I'm so proud!

just some thoughts and things

Today: My family's ski trip was cancelled due to a snow storm. Apparently, there is a 100% chance of snow.. and we are expecting 30 inches... holy crap. Also, my dad sporadically
SO, we are NOT going skiing because of SNOW, interesting. I went thrift store-ing with my sister Kelsea and got a new film camera for my -take-a-picture-every-day-for-the-21st-year-of my-life. It was marked for 10dollars and I bartered it down to 8 dollars fool!

so pumped I'm so pumped I'm so pumped I'm so pumped I'm so pumped I'm so pumped I'm so pumped I'm so very pumped.

Now I can buy regular 35mm film for 8-10 dollars for 4 rolls depending on the brand, with 24 exposures on each roll, which Isn't as cool as the lomography Holga camera film from Urban, but is SO OO much more affordable.

I got the new kings of leon record for only 14 dollars!
It sounds like they are playing live in my living room. Me and my mom played the mega ball last week. It was for 300 million dollars.. I don't even understand how much money that actually is, but it was exciting. I lost -no doubt, but it got me thinking whatI would actually do if I won. When making a list such as this, one usually tries to start with the very important things first like tithing, family stuff, church stuff, friends needs, missions, debt, school loans (sallie dumb mae.), savings, investing, blahblahblah.... then I would have some money for fun things. Like, for instance, I would go on a huge trip to visit all of the people that I miss. I really miss Laura and Val! ( yes, this is a shout out because they told me they read this blog) (whattup) (love you) I honestly could think of a million random things that I would like to do... give away a thousand dollars to a stranger, buy a voltswagon van, buy every season of the office and the neistat brothers, buy a million pairs of toms and beat the system by giving all of them away, own a record label, i would like to go to the harry potter them park world with my sisters and the cast of harry potter, go on saturday night live... ya know.. stuff like that.

I have been feeling extremely crafty lately... we'll see what comes it. We are going to be snowed in tomorrow, and anything can happen on a snow day.

mazeltov! it's 2011!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
its a new year... and there are so many things that make me happy that it's 2011!!
SO, here it is-
my entry of resolutions.
and some other things....

first resolution.... I want those.

My parents got me a record player for Christmas! I found the best record store on south street... if you are ever in Philadelphia.. you have to go. They are pretty much giving away records for free!
thats it...
NEXT RESOLUTION
COMING SOON:
I am starting a new project called -take a picture everyday for the 21st year of me being alive- and I'm pretty much taking a picture every day this year that I am turning 21.. then Im planning on making it a book slash maybe a canvas piece or something. WOOWOO!

also... this is pretty weird for me to say for the world to see because I am pretty modest about some things, and this is unusually candid of me but I am going to be skinny after this year. There. I said it...

also.. hopefully this will be THE BEST SUMMER EVER!! I'm applying to work at a camp in LA... (or close to it I mean.) My best friend and I are both applying.. IM SO EXCITED!
NEXT RESOLUTION: I will be able to play the piano WAY BETTER than I did last year.
way more on this later... I am watching the Other Guys with my dad and sister and I'm only half paying attention.
